Our Head2Toe Clinic, based in Carrgaline has been providing treatment for individuals experiencing low back pain and related issues such as sciatica for many years. As qualified physiotherapists and chiropractors, we commonly address back pain cases and can help you with tailored treatment plans.

We strongly believe in utilising a hands-on approach when treating back pain. Additionally, we combine various evidence-based techniques such as electrotherapy, mobilisation, and manipulation. These approaches are supported by anatomical and physiological principles, aiming to alleviate symptoms swiftly.

Upon diagnosing your condition, our goal is to collaborate with you in relieving your symptoms and developing a management plan for continued recovery at home and work. Typically, this includes a comprehensive exercise program.

What Is Better For Back Pain Physio Or Chiropractor?

When it comes to treating back pain, both physiotherapy and chiropractic care can provide relief. Physiotherapy focuses on strengthening and stretching the muscles surrounding the spine to improve mobility and reduce pain. It may include exercises, manual therapy, and other modalities such as ultrasound or electrical stimulation. On the other hand, chiropractic care primarily involves spinal adjustments or manipulations to correct misalignments and restore proper function. This can relieve pressure on the nerves and alleviate back pain.

While both physiotherapy and chiropractic care have their benefits, the choice between the two depends on the individual’s preferences and the underlying cause of their back pain. Physiotherapy may be preferred for those who wish to focus on overall strength and flexibility, while chiropractic care may be more suitable for those seeking targeted spinal adjustments. Ultimately, booking a consultation with us will help determine the most appropriate treatment option for your specific needs.

Dr. Nayna Boohla was incredible adjusting my twisted back and hips after a fall I took in the rain on holiday. She is very caring and incredibly knowledgable at chiropractic and Accupuncture. And only because of her I could continue my trip for another 3 weeks.

Yvonne is a miracle worker! I was in pain for months with lower back pain and nothing was working--went to Yvonne at Head to Toe and over time she has made my pain manageable and most days non-existent! She listened to me and we worked out a plan that included me getting back to the gym and getting off pain killers, and so far its working out brilliantly! I can actually move again and enjoy my life which frankly, didn't seem possible 6 months ago...I cannot recommend Yvonne highly enough-Thank you!

I had my first session yesterday! After years of injuring my back while working I’ve had masseuses refuse to touch it out of fear of damaging my back even more. I’ve had numbness in my arm, terrible sleeping patterns and my lower back locks up very often. Out of fear, I was nervous to try acupuncture but Nayna was so calm and made the process very relaxing. She took all the time she needed, clicking and relieving my back, neck, arms, pelvis and legs. I slept like a baby last night for the first time in ages! My back was so inflamed and I can now feel the instant relief after going only once. It is costly but so so worth it (in my opinion the expense of going to many cheaper places adds up and doesn’t have the same effect). I’m able to go about my day pain free and I’m not even taking any pain killers or anti inflammatories, I feel amazing! Thank you Nayna X

I went to Barry Murphy Mid April for physical therapy treatment due to ongoing pain in my left hip and lower back brought on from running. In short Barry was fantastic. Not only did he help alleviate symptoms he also gave me the tools and skills to ensure that I wont end up in the same place again. Thanks to Barry, I now have a much better understanding of my body and how it works and how to take care of it. Finally he's a lovely guy and completely put me at my ease.

More FAQs On Back Pain And Treatments

Treatment For Lower back Pain And Sciatica

There are various treatment options for lower back pain and sciatica. One of the most common treatments is physical therapy, which aims to strengthen the muscles in the lower back and improve flexibility. This can help to alleviate pain and improve overall function. In addition to physical therapy, muscle relaxants may be prescribed to reduce pain and inflammation.

What Is The Single Best Exercise For Back Pain?

One of the best exercises for relieving back pain is the pelvic tilt. This exercise is simple and gentle enough for anyone to try. To do a pelvic tilt, lie on your back with your feet flat on the ground and knees bent. Slowly tilt your pelvis upward, flattening your lower back against the floor.

Hold this position for a few seconds and then release. This exercise helps to strengthen the abdominal and lower back muscles, which can provide support and stability to the spine. It also helps to improve flexibility and range of motion in the lower back.

Is It Better To Sit Or Lie Down With Lower Back Pain?

When experiencing lower back pain, whether it is better to sit or lie down depends on the individual and the severity of the pain. Sitting may provide relief for some individuals as it allows for a more supported posture and relieves pressure on the lower back. However, others may find that sitting exacerbates their pain, especially if they have a condition such as a herniated disc. In these cases, lying down may be more beneficial. Lying on the back with a pillow under the knees can help maintain the natural curve of the spine and alleviate pressure on the lower back. Additionally, lying on the side in a fetal position with a pillow between the knees can also provide relief.

It is important to listen to one’s body and experiment with different positions to find what works best for them. Furthermore, it is recommended to avoid prolonged periods of sitting or lying down and incorporate gentle stretching and movement throughout the day to improve circulation and alleviate muscle tension.

How Can I Get Immediate Relief From Lower Back Pain?

If you are struggling with lower back pain and are in need of immediate relief, there are several strategies that you can try. First and foremost, applying ice or heat to the affected area can help reduce inflammation and alleviate pain. You can try alternating between the two to see which one provides the most relief for you.

Engaging in gentle stretching and low-impact exercises can also help alleviate lower back pain. Building up core strength can provide better support for the back and reduce strain. Lastly, maintaining good posture and avoiding activities that exacerbate the pain can help prevent further discomfort. However, if the pain persists or worsens, it is important to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation and treatment options.
