Introducing The Exceptional Physical Therapist: Barry

After completing a four-year program at South East Technological University Carlow, he became a certified physical therapist. He became interested in this field at a young age due to frequent injuries requiring treatment. He pursued further studies to gain a comprehensive understanding of the human body. Barry specialises in rehabilitating individuals of all ages and is qualified in sports taping, soft tissue massage and dry needling. In our designated rehabilitation room, Barry will guide you through specific workouts and stretches to improve your movement and overall well-being. During your first visit, Barry will thoroughly examine your condition by taking a detailed history of your injury and symptoms. He will assess your body movement and help you set both short and long-term objectives. Our approach is not only to fix the injury but also to investigate the underlying causes and reduce the likelihood of future injuries. A customised rehabilitation plan will be formulated for your specific needs.

When Is Physical Therapy Considered?

Physical therapy is considered or should be when you experience any physical problem or pain that impairs your ability to function normally. Back pain, tendonitis, pelvic floor dysfunction, and incontinence are some common problems that require physical therapy. Additionally, cardiovascular and neurological conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, may require physical therapy to improve mobility and reduce symptoms.

Physical therapy is a non-invasive approach to treating physical conditions that can involve exercises, stretches, and manual therapy. It helps to relieve pain, restore function, and improve overall quality of life. If you are feeling signs of discomfort in your body, book an appointment today.

Dr. Nayna Boohla was incredible adjusting my twisted back and hips after a fall I took in the rain on holiday. She is very caring and incredibly knowledgable at chiropractic and Accupuncture. And only because of her I could continue my trip for another 3 weeks.

Yvonne is a miracle worker! I was in pain for months with lower back pain and nothing was working--went to Yvonne at Head to Toe and over time she has made my pain manageable and most days non-existent! She listened to me and we worked out a plan that included me getting back to the gym and getting off pain killers, and so far its working out brilliantly! I can actually move again and enjoy my life which frankly, didn't seem possible 6 months ago...I cannot recommend Yvonne highly enough-Thank you!

I had my first session yesterday! After years of injuring my back while working I’ve had masseuses refuse to touch it out of fear of damaging my back even more. I’ve had numbness in my arm, terrible sleeping patterns and my lower back locks up very often. Out of fear, I was nervous to try acupuncture but Nayna was so calm and made the process very relaxing. She took all the time she needed, clicking and relieving my back, neck, arms, pelvis and legs. I slept like a baby last night for the first time in ages! My back was so inflamed and I can now feel the instant relief after going only once. It is costly but so so worth it (in my opinion the expense of going to many cheaper places adds up and doesn’t have the same effect). I’m able to go about my day pain free and I’m not even taking any pain killers or anti inflammatories, I feel amazing! Thank you Nayna X

I went to Barry Murphy Mid April for physical therapy treatment due to ongoing pain in my left hip and lower back brought on from running. In short Barry was fantastic. Not only did he help alleviate symptoms he also gave me the tools and skills to ensure that I wont end up in the same place again. Thanks to Barry, I now have a much better understanding of my body and how it works and how to take care of it. Finally he's a lovely guy and completely put me at my ease.

Still, Thinking If Physical Therapy Is For You?

What Is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy is a type of treatment that focuses on the management and healing of injuries that cause pain, disability, and impaired movement. A physical therapist uses various hands-on techniques such as massage, joint mobilisations, stretching techniques, and exercises to address your injury. The main objective of physical therapy is to reduce discomfort, enhance joint mobility, reinstate strength and functionality, and above all, prevent re-injury. Physical therapists work closely with clients, taking into account their individual needs and limitations, to ensure that they receive the best possible care. They design personalised rehabilitation plans that promote healing, recondition damaged tissues, and improve functionality. Whether recovering from surgery or injury or suffering from chronic pain, physical therapy can provide relief and help individuals regain their quality of life.

Benefits Of Physical Therapy

The benefits of physical therapy are numerous. It can improve mobility, reduce pain, and increase strength and flexibility. It can also help patients regain independence and return to their normal activities. Physical therapy has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of conditions, including back pain, arthritis, and sports injuries. Overall, physical therapy is a safe and effective way to improve physical health and quality of life.

Are Physical Therapy And Physiotherapy The Same Thing?

Physical therapy and physiotherapy are two terms that are often used interchangeably.

Can Physical Therapy Help Arthritis

Physical therapy can be an effective treatment method for people with arthritis, especially those with osteoarthritis. Our physical therapists can design exercise programs that can help patients improve their mobility, strength and flexibility, as well as reduce pain and swelling. Regular exercise can also help you maintain a healthy weight which can prevent extra strain on your joints.

While exercise and therapy may not completely cure arthritis, it can help minimise the impact it has on quality of life, delaying the need for joint replacement surgery and reducing the need for pain medication. Overall, physical therapy can be an integral part of an effective treatment plan for patients dealing with arthritis.

Why Physical Therapy Is Important

Physical therapy is a crucial aspect of healthcare that helps individuals heal, improve their physical function, and prevent future injuries. It is essential as it is used to treat a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, neurological disorders, and sports injuries, amongst others.

Physical therapy helps people of all ages, but it is especially crucial for individuals who struggle with mobility, balance, or strength. Our physical therapist, Barry, will help develop individualised treatment plans for each patient, which include specific exercises and stretches that are tailored to your condition. These exercises help to strengthen muscles, increase flexibility, and improve endurance. Physical therapy is also beneficial in reducing inflammation, swelling, and pain, which can help individuals avoid surgery or the need for prescription medication. Moreover, physical therapy helps people regain their independence, return to work and their favourite activities, and improve their quality of life.
